Pfizer helps to reduce road traffic in Sandwich

Pfizer's Sandwich site employs over 3,000 people. Journeys to and from work are a major contribution to the road traffic in the small town in Kent. A survey showed that 86% of the employees travelled to work by car and only 19% shared with another person.

To support the local community, Pfizer have implemented a travel plan which has seen the introduction of improved bus and train services to local towns. Shuttle buses run frequently from the site to the town centre and are used by employees and visitors free of charge. Walking, cycling and car share are also encouraged to reduce the impact of the site on the local traffic levels.

Reducing road journeys means less air pollution from vehicle exhausts and adds to the air quality in this rural area of Kent.
