Reduce, recycle and re-use: cutting waste at A.H. Marks

A.H. Marks manufactures specialist chemicals which are used in applications such as pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals and polymers. These processes inevitably generate a certain amount of waste. By looking at opportunities to re-use or recycle these materials, A.H. Marks has helped to reduce the waste sent for disposal.

Simple steps have had an impact on the levels of waste. Drums that carried raw materials into the plant are cleaned and re-used to carry wastes out. This saves both materials and money as new drums do not need to be bought for the removal of wastes. Savings are also made by recycling office wastes like cardboard, paper and packagings.

The overall effect of these, and other, changes has been to reduce the amount of waste even though production levels have increased.
